PAOO

Many patients decline or delay needed orthodontic work because of the time commitment. With a new multi-disciplinary treatment called Periodontally Accelerated Osteogenic Orthodontics (PAOO), not only most orthodontic cases can be completed 3 to 4 times faster than with conventional orthodontic techniques, but also achieving excellent results for complicated cases can be full filled.

This procedure is based on the bone healing pattern known as the Regional Acceleratory Phenomenon (RAP).

Because of the dense nature of bone, it changes very slowly. By performing this periodontal procedure, the dense bone is temporarily softened which in turn allows the teeth to move to their new position more quickly. This process must be combined with orthodontic forces that move the teeth in the temporarily softened bone. Inside braces, esthetics (outside) braces, clear braces, or Invisalign are typically used to move the teeth.

During the PAOO procedure, a few small incisions are made, bone-grafting material is placed under the gums. The graft is placed over the areas where the bone needs to be softened. This allows for easy tooth movement. In return, the enhanced tooth movement leads to a decreased need for extractions, increased bone volume, and therefore resulting in a brighter, wider, and healthier smiles. Once in position, the teeth are held in their new aligned position with retainers while the bone regains its initial dense state.

Patients who pursue the combined PAOO & Orthodontic treatment are typically very satisfied with their results and treatment timelines. We are one of the very few & select practices in the area that offer this technology and treatment modality.
